As far as I know, the text of a label widget slides only, if it is to long to be displayed at once.
I think it would be a useful feature, to be able to force the label to slide its content to get a ticker like component.

Hi Patrick,

sure its possible, but why do you want to scroll text that fits into a label? Maybe I'm missing something.

Only "to get a ticker like component".

OK, maybe an example will help:
Lets imagine an application which displays some kind of tv. It has also a region at the top border which is designated to display textual information. I would like the text not just to appear but to slide from one side to another, eg. slide in from the right and slide out to the left.
